This research reports an analysis of college students’ perceptions of an ideal math class based on their prior experiences from elementary to high school mathematics. Respondents from different courses were asked to write an essay pleasant pleasant and worst math class experience, characteristics of an ideal math class, and a narration of how they will teach math for a day. Mixed qualitative analysis were made from essays and interviews. Initial findings reveal that students’ perceptions of an ideal math class vary depending on their inclination/ resistance towards the subject. The non-math majors favored games, activities, etc. while those in pure math preferred focused individualized settings. The majority associate their worst math class either to their teacher or a failing mark.
