Abstract

Museums as a public place play an educational role, however, in many societies, museums are not considered as an educational place to provide a certain ideas or beliefs to people. However, in South Korea, apart from school curriculum, the history of Japanese colony, the Korean War can be found in public places such as museums under the name of peace or war. Despite the fact that the profound causes of conflicts in South Korea comes from these histories, the contents of these histories are displayed in museums under the specific ideologies. This study focuses on this matter and explores how people see and understand these museums, and how peace educational approach can play its role in public educational setting- museums.
