Teaching Religion in the Public Schools

• In Event: Dewey Studies SIG Business Meeting: Walter Feinberg Lecture "Teaching Religion in the Public Schools"

Abstract

The lecture will explore the role that religion, as a humanistic study, might play in advancing the distinctive role of public education to reproduce a public, and will address some of the obstacles to achieving that goal. It will also offer a friendly amendment to Dewey's concerns about religion in the public school.
