Academic Facebook? Using Social Media to Support Academic Motivation, Productivity, and Accountability

Abstract

Academic writing is a vital component of academic life. Entering graduate school is stressful enough, but adding to the stress of beginning an academic career is the following scenario: by the end of the semester, you will need to complete a literature review, a 20-30 page research paper, and in order to complete your degree an original work thesis or dissertation. In this study, a group of graduate students address the need and importance for writing, specifically the necessity through the use of the social media Facebook with writing productivity and accountability.
