Moving Beyond a Pilot: Expanding Video Grand Rounds Across Teacher Education

Abstract

The presenters will discuss the Video Grand Rounds pilot project, and share findings. The design and development of templates for the scaling up of the Video Grand Rounds will be shared. Presenters will discuss preparing pre-service teachers to understand, observe, and articulate those observations of classroom instruction within the Video Grand Rounds structure. A R&D methodology was used for the development of the Video Grand Rounds model. Initial findings indicated improved protocol correspondence from the 1st video to the 4th video. Additionally, findings suggested key refinements to the intervention model for the coming academic year including identifying videos that are more reflective of authentic classroom observations and broadening the use of the observation protocol as a framework for Debriefing Sessions.
