Professional Development Orientations of Special Education Teachers in China: Report From a National Survey

Abstract

With subjects of 3485 special education school teachers from 9 provinces in China, this study explored special education teachers’ gender distribution, age distribution, education level and background, experience of teaching exceptional children, job categories, knowledge of and participation in related services, expectations for in-service training, and motivation to be a special education teacher in China. Some culture implications were discussed.
