Through a critical framework, this paper analyzes the notion of racialized silences by interpreting the plurality of silences as both generative and destructive. The researcher consider the question, what is the role of silence in how teachers in a southern elementary school conceptualize race? This ethnographic study of teachers highlights several stories that complicate teachers’ “silence” in connection with racial in/justice.
