Session Type: Roundtable Session
The proposed session explores the role of critical policy studies in sustainability education research, and in particular focuses on emerging research on the large, decentralized education states of India, Brazil, and Canada. This session responds to a call to strengthen policy research in sustainability education, where there is a need for more studies that move beyond analysis of policy texts to also consider policy development, enactment, and other broader aspects of the policy process. From this holistic perspective, the proposed session offers discussion of the processes involved in sustainability policy development, the relationship between the development of particular texts and larger discursive formations, and the situated enactments of policy by administrators, teachers, and other practitioners in applied contexts.
