Session Type: Symposium
Heeding this year’s conference call towards democratizing possibilities of education and production of knowledge, this session will use pecha kucha (Japanese for chit chat) as presentation and participatory form of arts-based research to reflect dialogically with audience members while opening up methodological spaces of research, connection to theories, praxis, and ethics. Pecha kucha is a multimedia presentation of image and sound with 20 slides shown/narrated for 20 seconds each, totaling six minutes and forty seconds (6:40). The rest of the time is allotted for pecha kucha (chit chat) with the audience. Using film and web-based performative research, visual and poetic performance, and mixed-medium art panelists will critically explore methodological issues in arts-based educational research within the context of their research.
