Session Type: Symposium
This session offers insights in system wide attempts to broaden what is measured and what counts in education through multi-institutional partnership and cooperation. It will explore the possibilities and problems of building broader measures of school success in school organizational quality, creativity, democratic citizenship, social emotional learning and health as well as offer insight into public and school system perception of the importance of these areas in schooling. The session as a whole represents a collective, participatory and democratic effort amongst key stakeholders and institutions in the Ontario’s education system. The session suggests a potential way forward that includes but moves beyond narrow measures of student outcome and school accountability that are often defined in large scale assessment.
