Session Type: Symposium
The purpose of this session is to present the evaluation of the Reading Apprenticeship (RA) professional development and current research of its effects on teacher practice and student achievement. Reading Apprenticeship (RA) is a model of academic literacy instruction designed to improve literacy skills and academic achievement for all students. In October 2010, an i3 “Validation” grant was awarded to scale up and validate the RA model in three core secondary content area classes: U.S. history, biology, and English language arts. This session will provide background on Reading Apprenticeship and the logic models, research questions, study design and results from each of the three related research studies.
