Fri, April 17, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Sheraton, Floor: Ballroom Level, Sheraton I

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

This session commemorates the 25th anniversary of Life in Schools, written by Peter McLaren. Life in Schools impels us to critically examine the common rituals and routines of schooling that often rob us of our greatest human qualities – love, hope, and agency. Now in its 6th edition, it has been translated into five different languages and ranked among the top twelve education books in the world. The session features a presentation on the making of Life in Schools, through six editions and an analysis of its relevance today and for the future of education and revolutionary struggles worldwide. Preceding this presentation will be a panel of five commentaries on its impact in their respective fields of education.
