Session Type: Symposium
This session investigates education in settings of conflict and fragility from global and national perspectives. In particular, it addresses the nature of connections between educational enrollment and retention and conflict/fragility and state governance; the causes and manifestations of violence against education and state response to them; and the coordination, financing, and prioritization of international support to education in these settings. The overall objective of this session is to investigate and highlight, from a range of perspectives, the urgency of addressing education in settings of conflict and fragility, and to contribute to an understanding of how national and international actors can better support the educational needs of children in these challenging contexts.
