Session Type: Structured Poster Session
Research involving interdisciplinary collaboration is pervasive in STEM fields. The new Next Generation Science Standards stresses core practices and crosscutting concepts. However, empirical research in interdisciplinary and integrated science education is still limited. This structured poster session gathers a group of scholars to present and discuss the frontier research and practice in interdisciplinary and integrated STEM education. The topics include conceptual framework of interdisciplinary reasoning and communication, integration and transfer of knowledge between STEM disciplines, interdisciplinary affinity, teaching of interdisciplinary science inquiry, and assessments of interdisciplinary understanding. We expect that the studies and the interactions between the presenters, the discussant, and the audience will result in important insights in advancing research, practices, and theories in interdisciplinary science learning and teaching.
