Session Type: Symposium
This symposium highlights new directions in research on bullying and homophobic behavior. Each paper explores novel research questions that to date have been unexplored. Presenters will discuss the role of forgiveness in buffering against mental health problems among adolescents who have been bullied; the extent to which vocational aspirations among youth are associated with bullying involvement; the degree to which previously bullied college youth are at increased risk for hazing on university campuses; and which student attributes are associated with a greater willingness to intervene when they observe homophobic behavior. Findings will be considered in light of implications for future research and for practice.
