Session Type: Symposium
In this symposium we report on a multi-site study of organizational conditions and practices that support the effective use of evidence for program improvement in teacher education. We present data from three diverse teacher education program “cases”, as well as a cross case analysis of 10 programs selected for variation in size, institutional mission, and state policy contexts. Our findings suggest that building organizational capacity and commitment to evidence-based decision making requires attention to the relationships between faculty motivation, organizational goals and practices, and the affordances and constraints of different types of data used to guide program improvement efforts
