Session Type: Symposium
This session examines college and career readiness (CCR) with a focus on the experiences, trajectories, and outcomes of low-income students of color. The presentations examine how CCR is defined and translated to policy across secondary and postsecondary sectors. The four papers explore: (a) the use of benchmarks to assess CCR; (b) urban high school students’ perspectives on CCR; (c) a CCR intervention for rural high school students; and (d) the effects of community college baccalaureate programs on CCR outcomes. Featuring diverse theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches, this symposium motivates dialogue around the challenges facing underrepresented students and strategies to improve CCR research and policy.
