Session Type: Symposium
The purpose of this session is to type and talk back to prevailing discourses about research concerning, and with, persons with complex communication needs. Specifically, our panel will present four papers, each addressing a different area related to the inclusion of persons with complex communication needs: meaningful high school inclusion, developing communication skills through collaborative processes, inclusion of facilitated communication research in scholarly journals and inclusion of individuals with complex communication needs in academic conferences. A central goal of the session is the substantive and significant contributions from individuals with disabilities who communicate in a variety of ways, both as co-authors on papers and co-presenters on the panel.
