A shared, but elusive, goal for science education is to create learning experiences that engage students meaningfully in the discourses and practices of the discipline. The papers in this session provide insight into student engagement with science, further deepen our shared understanding of discourses and practices of science, and explore conceptual and pedagogical tools useful for science teaching and learning.
