The theme of the Educational Studies Association of Ireland (ESAI) symposium draws heavily on the theme of the AERA annual conference, prompting us ‘to consider how education praxis, research, theory, and policy can change the world—toward more justice’. In this symposium, we examine interpretations of the meaning of culture, language, and heritage in education research and praxis with the aim of advancing justice, in the Irish context. Papers in the symposium represent contributions from researchers and educators working collaboratively across higher education institutions.
