"And I Was Just Kicking and Screaming!" Sustaining Imagined and Advocated Curriculum

Thu, April 16, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Sheraton, Floor: Fourth Level, Chicago VI&VII

Abstract

This study examines the curricular narratives of several teachers at a supplemental online learning program as they worked to support the success of students with disabilities in their courses. During the study, the teachers told several interesting stories that were formed as advocacy in shaping curriculum that was more appropriate for their students. This presentation will describe how this imagined or wished for curriculum became advocated curriculum when the teachers made real efforts to find space for it in the pre-packaged curriculum that they were assigned to teach.
