Abstract

The purpose of this study was to (a) identify the factors influencing learning approaches in mobile learning environments based on e-learning services, (b) explore the structural relationships among mastery-approach goals, performance-approach goals, social presence, deep approach, and surface approach, and (c) suggest practical implications for deep learning in mobile learning environments based on e-learning services. The subjects were Korean students enrolled in W Cyber University. Data were collected via a web-based questionnaire, and 255 responses were analyzed. It was found that mastery-approach goals and social presence had significant effects on deep approach and surface approach, while performance-approach goals had no significant effect on the surface approach. The implications and limitations are presented, along with recommendations for future research.
