How Do Students Utilize Technology? Students' Views Versus Log Records

Fri, April 17, 8:15 to 9:45am, Sheraton, Floor: Second Level, Colorado

Abstract

In this study, it has been aimed to determine what students do while using technology by means of log records and semi structured interviews, based on the ongoing discussions on the relationship between learner and technology. In this study, a process is designed for 29 second year students to make a statement about themselves via digital storytelling with the help of their tablets. As the log records were analyzed, it was suggested that the most frequently used applications were the ones that were initially installed on the tablets for DST. However, as the interview records on this topic were examined, it was observed that the students stated that they mostly played games during the process.
