Abstract

Recently, British researchers developed the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Bowel (ICIQ-B) as a comprehensive symptom and quality-of-life self-completion questionnaire for FI that reflects both clinicians’ and patients’ perspectives (Cotterill et al., 2011). Using classical measurement theory methodology these authors reported that the ICIQ-B was psychometrically robust. To date, the psychometric properties of ICIQ-B have not been investigated using Rasch Modeling methodology. A recently funded project developed an American-English version of the ICIQ-B in both paper and online formats. We propose evaluating the reliability and validity of the ICIQ-B using the Rasch Model and comparing these results to analyses using traditional psychometric methods. The psychometric properties of the paper and online versions will also be compared.
