Mobilizing an Australian Aboriginal Epistemology to Perform a Just Educational Practice

Mon, April 20, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Hyatt, Floor: East Tower - Gold Level, Grand CD

Abstract

Yolngu Aboriginal people of Northern Australia are engaged with educational researchers towards a postcolonial knowledge practice, not only in formal schooling, but in all areas of Aboriginal life where globalising and neoliberal agendas challenge and undermine their unique understandings and practices of justice. Beginning with Yolngu epistemologies and metaphysics, we engage theories from the west to develop and evaluate transdisciplinary practices of knowledge production and agreement making.
