The proposed presentation highlights findings from Culturally Responsive Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Learning Labs, a statewide formative intervention study of a systemic transformation framework. The research team collaborated with school staff, parents, administrators, and community representatives to address minority students’ disproportionate representation in exclusionary school disciplinary actions at an urban high school. Findings suggest the Learning Lab has the potential to include historically marginalized families and students into decision-making activities and renovate school systems through praxis. Following the presentation, audience will be able to identify strategies to build meaningful, empowering relationships between educators and nondominant families and students and to renovate systemic practices to become more inclusive.
