Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
Supporting culture and heritage are essential factors for quality schooling for African American students. In an effort to explore diverse epistemologies as they relate to notions of culture and heritage, it is necessary to focus on solution-oriented research, social policies, and academic programing. As such this session is centered on the work of Dr. Edmund W. Gordon. The session will use Gordon’s work to highlight how high achieving academic programs and social policies as related to funding can sustain quality education for African American students.
