Session Type: Symposium
The symposium will focus on evaluations of three-year K-3 literacy initiatives in three large urban districts. Each district was challenged to design its own customized approach to address three goals: (1) increase early reading achievement; (2) use a tiered data-based instructional approach; and (3) use coaches and professional learning communities to strengthen instruction. As we know from implementation science, most programs take between two and four years to implement. In this presentation, implementation and achievement findings will focus on data from two districts after their second year of the pilot and the third district after completing the pilot.
