Session Type: Structured Poster Session
With the turn of the century, and the development of new technologies, calls for innovative learning opportunities for 21st C students have expanded. However, what constitutes an innovative learning context or approach has received limited systematic study. The structured poster session brings together a series of studies across disciplines and national contexts that have engaged in ethnographic studies in which the ethnographer works in alliance with the designers and instructors of innovative programs to examine the intellectual and disciplinary logic guiding design and instruction decision. The epistemological basis of these studies is grounded in ethnographic study of one to three years, tracing the developing logic in new courses and uncovering the historical development of ongoing courses and new learning configurations
