Research efforts over the last decade have suggested numerous benefits of game-based learning. Recently, the Learning Games Network launched an initiative aimed directly at educators to increase classroom integration of games with a goal of cultivating a vibrant teacher-to-teacher network around game-based learning. One effort to address this goal includes organizing professional development and outreach events deemed “Playful Learning Summits”. Using a Working Example methodology (Barab, Dodge, & Gee, 2009), this paper details first year processes, successes, and challenges from this endeavor. We provide context through examples to elicit discussion and suggest a way forward for educators considering moving game-based learning directly into schools.
