Abstract

The last decade has brought a litany of changes to our country’s educational infrastructure. We are perpetually awash in new policies and programs (NCLB, CC, RTTT, EdTPA), all jockeying for positions of prominence in this era's evolutionary educational experiment. This article presents a multidisciplinary review of the literature regarding: organizational learning, culture, distributed/shared leadership, communities of practice, professional learning communities and school-based change. The mixed method, multi case study relied on the triangulation of several primary and secondary sources. The findings revealed
various innovative strategies for establishing systemic, collaborative infrastructures, which in turn support shared leadership and learning opportunities and increase the generative capacity for creative change management systems.
