This study addresses the complexities of practicing teachers constructing new understandings of their teaching practices through action research processes, holistic practices and professional development. The purposes of the research are twofold: First, to examine how teachers working in high functioning collaborative/cooperative teams, develop new teaching knowledge as a result of personal reflection and collaborative dialogue related to action research & holistic practices. Second, to identify ways in which this experience, action research through professional development, supports the development of meaningful professional growth through critical connections to the larger community. Results and suggestions for further inquiry will be discussed.
