Abstract

This study examines the approaches and strategies for increasing faculty diversity that research universities are employing, as documented in institutions' strategic planning documents. As the research suggests that strategic approaches to increasing faculty diversity yields greater results than using the usual search and hiring processes, the researchers sought to (a) determine the extent to which institutions are employing strategic approaches to increasing faculty diversity, and (b) document the range of strategies for increasing faculty diversity identified institutions' strategic planning documents.
