Sat, April 9, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Exhibit Hall D

Abstract

This study aims to expand the body of knowledge of how the population of aspiring teachers has changed over the past 40 years across traits related to teacher quality and success. In particular this study examined how the academic success, ethic of care and self-concept of teachers (elementary v. secondary v. non-teachers) have changed between 1971 and 2011, by racial groups, (examining Asian students, Black students, Latino students and White students separately). This quantitative study utilized survey data from the Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) survey, administered by UCLA’s Higher Education Research Institute (HERI).
