Student Teaching Supervisory Practices in the United States and Israel

Sat, April 9, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level One, Room 142

Abstract

We use a descriptive case study design to illustrate and compare supervision of instruction in the student-teaching (ST) experience in the United States and in Israel. We focus on the roles and contributions of each person involved in the supervision of preservice teachers (PST), and on how context, community and culture mediate these relationships. In order to achieve better-prepared teachers, our objective is to understand and capitalize on our respective strengths, and focus on areas in need of improvement.
