The goal of this presentation is to introduce activity systems analysis as a mediational tool in narrative inquiry for researchers to gain a holistic understanding of socially shared experiences that can have a large-scale social impact. The research question for this study was: How can activity systems analysis mediate researcher meaning-making in narrative inquiry about a cultural psychological phenomenon and its potential social impact? In this presentation we will share our experiences relying on documents and media as a form of narrative to understand the socially shared human activity related to net neutrality and its potential impact on US residents. We will present our joint narrative analysis, storytelling experiences, and lessons learned.
