The purpose of this study is to investigate healthcare information management students and employers, and currents employee’s assessments of the five employability dimensions of communication, teamwork, information technology, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. The study evaluates whether we can predict new employee commitment to professional development utilizing those five dimensions. The results of the study revealed that competence in information technology was the strong predictor of new employee commitment to professional development. In contrast, competence in interpersonal skills was revealed by employers to be the strongest predictor of new employee commitment to continuous professional development.
