As higher education institutions increasingly provide online courses, it is important to recognize and remove barriers related to delivery. In this study, researchers employ a convergent parallel mixed methods research design to investigate the effectiveness of an Introduction to Online Learning course to decrease students’ frustration and increase success in an online Master’s program. The SmarterMeasure indicator is used to gather quantitative data about the students’ online course readiness and the effectiveness of the preparation for online coursework. Qualitative data from emails, posttest feedback, and surveys are analyzed via the Grounded Theory approach. The findings suggest that this course will help students improve their technical knowledge as well as their likelihood for success in graduate level online classes.
