This presentation focuses on the multiple linguistic resources the Latino children and parents mobilized in their oral and written responses to culturally-relevant dual language picture books. Informed by the concepts of linguistic repertoires, family language policy and family literacy practices, the analysis highlights the families’ understandings of language practices as illustrated through their responses to books that describe different language-learning scenarios on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border
