The purpose of this study is to build upon current conceptions of data use improvement cycles and evidence based decision making by school leaders through applying current “big data” and data analytic strategies in collaboration with school leaders. In this researcher-practitioner partnership, we report on work with a charter school network in which current innovations in data analytic visualization of high dimensionality data were used to pattern analyze and visualize high school student achievement and persistence in Algebra I. We then use a qualitative case study design to report on the iterative design-based process of collaboration around the data analytics as a means to augment current evidence-based practice improvement cycles.
