Rhizomatic research forms the basis for this collaborative self-study on the experience of being teacher educators in a multicultural environment. The complexity of our experience created the need to be released from the bonds of predefined research routes in order to expose, test and modify assumptions and understandings. We present four vignettes tracing various journeys through which practice and research are woven together. They offer a brief glimpse of the complexity of co-existence in the collaborative space we share and our multifaceted identities within it. Although multiplicity and divergence are part of the way we work, the stories also reflect relational asymmetry dissonant with our intention to create a collaborative learning environment providing room for different voices.
