Education Policy in Transnational Times: Professional Standards for School Leaders

Abstract

In recent years, there has been a renovated global interest in standards-based reform that aims at standardizing school leaders’ practices. This study documents and examines the global emergence of policies that promote standards-based leadership practices in schools. We examine some of the global discourses and ideologies that underpin policies on leadership standards, aiming to identify key themes emerging from this global trend through a synthesis of the academic literature and policy document analysis.
