The overarching purpose of this study is to examine the production, placement, and employment of school leaders in Texas by the racial/ethnic and gender characteristics of graduates of School Leadership Preparation Programs. Similar to other studies in this area, we examine the results by race/ethnicity and gender. However, unlike most other studies, we also examine the intersection of race/ethnicity and gender. In this way, we are able to create a longitudinal picture of the shifting demographics of school leaders in Texas from 1993-2011 that explores who gets certified to be a school leader, who gets hired, and whether there are differences in who is hired for different levels of leadership.
