The increasing diversity on college campuses and ensuing tensions has resulted in an earnest effort to alleviate these frictions. An important piece of the discussion that has not received ample attention in published research surrounds the role of values in the enhancement (or weakening) of campus climate. To address this gap, this study presents results from an instrument designed to measure internal and external values towards and surrounding diversity of campus community members. Conduction of an exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis found a sound internal structure suggesting that the instrument produces reliable and credible results. This research serves as an initial step towards understanding a root cause of discord between social groups on college campuses.
