Abstract

Findings from a study of public records regarding New Jersey teachers in the academic years 1996-1997 to 2011-2012 are presented in this paper. This work is part of a research project regarding public school ambient positional instability in the United States funded by the National Science Foundation. Ambient Positional Instability (API) is a measure of teacher turnover and changes in teachers’ assignments to school, subject, and grade. Results of extent of API are presented mainly in tables and figures. Implications for education system and education research will be discussed.
