This paper reports a case study on selected ubiquitous learning communities for public health education on social media in China. Data were collected from a variety of Chinese social media, such as Sina Weibo, WeChat, Douban. Content analyses, data mining and text mining were conducted to investigate how social media attracted and engaged public in health education. Preliminary findings suggest key characteristics of such learning communities, and generate practical and research implications for public health education via new media.
