There is currently a huge impetus to improve student achievement in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). In keeping with this mandate, the Alliance for Physics Excellence (APEX) was formed with the goal of transforming physics education in the state of Alabama. APEX seeks to help teachers gain a deeper knowledge of physics content and employ more effective physics based pedagogical strategies to enable students to achieve higher gains.
