Sat, April 9, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level Two, Exhibit Hall D Section D

Abstract

Higher education accountability measures for student success are becoming more linked to higher education funding. This multiple-case study was conducted to explore and describe institutional change and efforts at small- to medium-sized public universities in states with a significant portion of funding allocated on performance metrics. The findings of this study included themes indicating the importance of considering institutions’ roles within state systems, a need for efficient and effective practices that are based on data, and a call for quality leadership in times of change. Findings have implications for state policymakers, university leaders, and future research on performance funding and institutional change.
