In response to the national “CS10K” effort to increase the quality, diversity, and number of computer science (CS) high school teachers in the United States, a local curriculum development team in Maryland assembled to create a new Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles (AP CSP) course. The project not only aims to increase the amount of CS high school teachers in Maryland but also is creating the “CS Matters in Maryland” version of the course to broaden the participation of diverse high school students in computing classes. The project planning team assembled a local CS community of practice and created a new customized content management system that facilitated the curriculum development process and increased group productivity.
