This literature review examines empirical, published research conducted between 2010 and 2015 regarding school leaders (i.e., school administrators and principals) and technology in P-12 schools. Findings demonstrated that the studies selected for analyses primarily concentrated on: 1) school leaders’ leadership styles and their influence on technology use in schools; 2) school leaders’ responsibilities and roles with regards to the implementation, integration, and sustainability of technology in schools; 3) ways in which school leaders’ beliefs and actions affected technology use in schools; 4) school leaders’ technology competence and preparation; and 5) issues associated with online or virtual school leadership. This paper will define each of these themes, describe the implications of these themes, and make suggestions for future research.
